DAY 1 – Arrival in Tanzania

Touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where a warm welcome awaits. Relax, dine and recharge at Airport Planet Lodge—the calm before the climb.

DAY 2 – Rongai Gate to First Cave

We drive 90 minutes to Rongai Gate and begin our ascent through farmland and forest to First Cave Camp. This stage hints at the wilderness ahead.

DAY 3 – First Cave to Kikelewa Camp

After breakfast we trek through rainforest into moorland, stopping at Second Cave before continuing to Kikelewa Camp—your first night above 3,600 m.

DAY 4 – Kikelewa to Mawenzi Tarn

We begin the steep climb to Mawenzi Tarn Camp, nestled beneath the towering Mawenzi Peak. Afternoon is reserved for acclimatization and mirror-glass reflections in the tarn.

DAY 5 – Acclimatization at Mawenzi Tarn

A restful day rich with gentle hikes into alpine vistas. Take in panoramic views and build strength for the days ahead.

DAY 6 – Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut

Cross the dramatic ‘Saddle’—a moon-like expanse between peaks—on our way to Kibo Hut. We rest, ready our gear, and sleep early before summit night.

DAY 7 – Summit to Horombo Hut

A midnight start takes us past Gilman’s Point and to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) by sunrise. After summit celebrations, we descend to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

DAY 8 – Horombo to Marangu Gate & Departure

Our final leg takes us down through forest to Marangu Gate for certification celebrations. We then return to the lodge or airport, wrapping up an epic high-altitude adventure.
