Day-by-Day Journey
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali
Your journey begins upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. Our professional driver guide will greet you with warmth and provide a short orientation about Rwanda’s rich history and what to expect during your stay. From the airport, you will be transferred to the iconic Hotel des Mille Collines, where you can unwind and take in your first views of the city’s hills and skyline. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 2: Kigali Genocide Memorial, King’s Palace Museum, and Transfer to Nyungwe National Park
After breakfast, your morning starts with a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a profound and moving experience that pays tribute to the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi. It is a place of remembrance, reflection, and hope for the future.
Following your visit, embark on a scenic drive towards Rwanda’s south, where you will stop at the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza. This impressive reconstruction of a royal residence offers insight into the traditions and customs of Rwanda’s former monarchy. After lunch en route, continue to Nyungwe National Park, arriving at Nyungwe Top View Hotel where you will settle in and take in breathtaking views of the ancient forest.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Trekking and Optional Canopy Walk
Wake early and set out into Nyungwe Forest, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests, for a chimpanzee trekking adventure. The dense forest is home to a remarkable array of wildlife, and you will have the privilege of observing these intelligent and social primates in their natural setting.
In the afternoon, opt for the canopy walkway — a thrilling suspension bridge that offers panoramic views from 60 meters above the forest floor. The canopy walk provides a unique perspective on the biodiversity of Nyungwe, from birds to wildflowers. Return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Transfer to Lake Kivu and Sunset Boat Ride
After breakfast, depart Nyungwe and travel to the shores of Lake Kivu. The journey offers stunning views of terraced hills and valleys dotted with villages. Upon arrival, check into Cormoran Lodge and enjoy lunch overlooking the sparkling lake.
In the evening, embark on a peaceful boat cruise. Glide along the water as the sun sets behind the mountains, and witness local fishermen setting out in their traditional dugout canoes.

Day 5: Kayaking on Lake Kivu and Relaxation
Begin the day with a kayaking excursion on the tranquil waters of Lake Kivu. Paddle along the coastline, taking in the dramatic scenery and observing birdlife. The remainder of the day is yours to relax at the lodge, soak in the views, or explore the lakeside at your own pace.

Day 6: Return to Kigali
After breakfast, bid farewell to the lake and make your way back to Kigali. Enjoy the scenic drive and pause for lunch at a recommended spot along the route. You will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport, depending on your departure plans.
